Open Coffee's Inaugural Home Build in Baja California

Documentary Photography & 2 Minute Recap Video

Open Coffee is an Indianapolis based mobile coffee cart whose profits are used for their mission to build homes for the houseless in Baja California, Mexico. I was able to join on their inaugural home build - where a team from across the US, as well as the local community in Baja, came together in building the first home completely funded by coffee!

The work: I accompanied the team on the Home Build for the weekend, photographing the build process, as well as creating a quick, casual recap video to visually document the process!

The weekend was so full! Full of laughs, new friends, connections, learning new skills, beautiful views, and a shared love of coffee - all while getting to spend quality time with the team and the beautiful family we were building alongside. (Plus, it was extra special because my brother, Nathan, is the founder of Open Coffee - so I came both as a part of the construction crew as well as documenting the project. )

The imagery for this project was created organically & casually, with the heart of documenting the process as it was. The vision is not only to share the story of Open’s mission with current & future clients, but also to create organic imagery to be cherished by both our team & the family that received this home for years to come.
