VEntola Coffee - Colombia
Véntola Coffee is a direct trade coffee farm & importer, with an emphasis on people, community, and extraordinary coffee. What a pleasure working for Ventola through so many beautiful seasons! I was able to come along side them through truly every stage, from the smallest seedlings and into harvest!
I worked most closely with Felipe, the founder & owner, as we created photo and video imagery to tell his story. Felipe, a third generation coffee farmer himself, has a creative mind towards processing and a heart for his community.
The minute you meet Felipe, you understand how he has such a rich community surrounding him. From his 70 year old neighbor to friends across the country, Felipe has a passion for connecting the brilliant producers of Colombia with roasters across the world.
THE WORK: We created organic, story forward imagery, including both photo & Video for socials and marketing. We also created a brand film!
STORY HIGHLIGHT: JAIME
As Véntola represents quite a few producers, we had many stories to tell! One sweet one being Felipe’s neighbor, Jaime, who in his 70s decided to enter into the specialty coffee scene, and has done so with exceptional quality and innovation. He warmly welcomed us into his home and farm, showing us his process, coffee. He picked us oranges from his tree and sent us home with a bag. It was so special getting to photograph his space and pride for his creations!
For brands like Véntola, the beauty and magic of the everyday is what speaks the loudest. We really wanted to showcase the whole process, the work from start to finish, and the variety of everyday realities to best communicate to roasteries and consumers what goes into creating such handcrafted specialty coffees. To create the real, documentary style imagery, it was key for me to be there, in the everyday, capturing the farm as it lives and breathes. From sunup to sundown (and beyond!) there are so many hands working hard to make this dream a reality. What a gift to photograph!
I spent my days walking in the rain, enjoying shared coffees, touring greenhouses , taking sunset walks with Pogo, finding hidden art, and chatting with all the beautiful people that make Véntola possible!
Some of my favorite misty moments from days spent at the farm.
And as always, my absolute favorite part about this work is the people! Felipe and his family are dear friends of ours, and it was simply wonderful getting to spend so much time with them & their beautiful family. I am so grateful!
